Municipal Library
Mixed use community building, including Vikelaia Library, historic archives, lecture hall offices and shops in renovated historically preserved building in the center of the city. “Ahtarica” is a listed building located at Morozini square, in the center of Heraklion. The location guarantees great view, natural light and easy access. The building needs to be structurally reinforced and renovated in order to house the historic archives of Vikelaia library. Ancient findings in the basement of the building including parts of an Arab-Byzantine wall make restoration and further protection also a priority.
